Melissa Shiff

 

Melissa Shiff is a video, performance, and installation artist who specializes in utilizing Jewish myths, symbols and rituals in the service of social justice and activism as well as engaging with issues of cultural memory. ARK  <http://www.melissashiff.com/works/index.html> <http://www.melissashiff.com/works/index.html> was the keynote project for the Jewish Museum in Prague's centennial year celebration in 2006. Most recently, Shiff is featured in the group show "Off The Wall: Artists at Work" at the Jewish Museum New York in March 2008. She has lectured widely about her work at universities, as well as art and museum institutions and she has been invited to give the Samuel and Bettie Roberts Endowed Lecture in Jewish Art  in the spring of 2009 at Fairfield University.
