Isabelle Rousset

Isabelle Rousset is a designer and researcher at the Beal Institute in Toronto where she currently addresses ecological and human futures from the perspective that 'nature happens' and that natural disasters are for numerous and identifiable reasons 'human disasters'. Isabelle's inquiry into human behaviour and that of natural systems proposes an optimistic view that while the condition of being human is the source of many of the problems we currently face that it simultaneously holds the means to address any and all difficulties we might encounter. The claim here is that human beings are essentially 'native instruments' equipped with powerful talent and ability to see, feel, empathize, will, imagine, hope, connect, cooperate, and change - that these delineate our natural resources providing a generative and sustainable capital with which to practice healthy and cogent futures.
