ATSA (Action
Terroriste Socialement Acceptable)
Pierre Allard and Annie
Roy, Artists, Montreal
ATSA was founded in 1997 by
artists Pierre Allard and Annie Roy to create urban interventions:
installations, performances and realistic stagings that bear witness to our
current social and environmental reality.
ATSA's works investigate and
transform urban landscape to restore the citizen's place in the public realm,
depicting it as a political space open to discussion and societal debates.
ATSAÕs approach uses the
aestheticism and symbolism of art as tools for effecting social change. It
creates works that, through the experiences they offer, provoke thought and
bring about action. By grabbing passers-by from their daily worlds and ushering
them towards a fiction which strangely resembles reality, the works foster an
emotional understanding of the problems at hand and generate positive citizen
action.
